Grey Highlands.
Grey Highlands sits on the Niagara Escarpment in southern Grey County, where the Beaver River cuts a glacial re-entrant valley between Eugenia and Thornbury and the Bruce Trail threads roughly 106 kilometres of escarpment between Lavender and Blantyre. Eugenia Falls drops about 30 metres into a Beaver River gorge inside the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority's Eugenia Falls Conservation Area; Hoggs Falls cascades on the Boyne River; the Old Baldy outlook above Kimberley opens a long view across the valley.
Kolapore Wilderness Trails, on the upland east of Kimberley, hold a volunteer-groomed classic cross-country ski network that runs deeper into winter than most of southern Ontario thanks to lake-effect snow off Georgian Bay. The Apple Pie Trail loops through Beaver Valley orchards and ciders.
Markdale, Flesherton, Eugenia, and Kimberley anchor the township; Owen Sound and Collingwood sit a short drive away.

Hiking
The Beaver Valley section of the Bruce Trail runs roughly 106 km between Lavender and Blantyre, threading the eastern wall of the Beaver River gorge through Grey Highlands and adjacent townships. Inside Grey Highlands the trail and its side trails string together the rim of Eugenia Falls (approximately 30 m drop on the Beaver River) in the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority's Eugenia Falls Conservation Area, the Hoggs Falls cascade on the Boyne River, and the Old Baldy cliff outlook above Kimberley. Metcalfe Rock adds escarpment crevice features at the southern end of the Beaver Valley club section. The Bruce Trail is Canada's oldest and longest marked footpath.

Kolapore Wilderness Trails carry one of the larger volunteer-maintained cross-country singletrack networks on the Beaver Valley plateau east of Kimberley. The same trail tract that holds the classic XC network in winter rides as cross-country mountain biking in summer; passes and stewardship come through the Kolapore Wilderness Trails Association. Trail surfaces are forest singletrack and forest road rather than purpose-built jump-line — closer to wilderness XC than a downhill bike park.

The Beaver River, from Eugenia Lake downstream, carries an annual fall Chinook salmon run and a spring rainbow trout (steelhead) run from Georgian Bay; resident brown trout hold in upper river reaches and the Boyne River carries small-stream brook and rainbow trout. Eugenia Lake on the Beaver River reservoir holds bass and walleye. All three waters fall under Ontario Fisheries Management Zone 16, with seasonal closures and species-specific limits set in the FMZ 16 regulations summary.

The Beaver Valley Ski Club at Kimberley is a private members ski club on the eastern wall of the Beaver Valley with roughly 220 m of vertical, named runs, and lift-served terrain in the Georgian Bay snowbelt. Access is for members and approved guests only — Beaver Valley is not a public destination resort. Talisman Mountain Resort, the former public ski hill in the same village, closed in 2011 and no longer operates lifts.

Kolapore Wilderness Trails, east of Kimberley on the Beaver Valley plateau, are a volunteer-groomed classic and backcountry cross-country ski network in the lake-effect snowbelt south of Georgian Bay. The Kolapore Wilderness Trails Association maintains track-set classic loops and backcountry routes through hardwood forest on a tract that holds reliable snow deeper into winter than most of southern Ontario. Trail use is supported by annual passes and donations rather than a resort gate fee, and the network sits next to the Bruce Trail's Beaver Valley section for connection-style days.

Beaver Valley fall colours run mid-September through mid-October on the escarpment hardwood slopes above and below the Old Baldy outlook at Kimberley. The Bruce Trail and the Eugenia Falls Conservation Area lookouts open long views across the colour-turned valley; Grey County Road 13 carries the most-driven scenic loop. The valley's hardwood mix concentrates sugar maple, beech, and ironwood — the species that produce the strongest reds and oranges of the Niagara Escarpment turn.

The Apple Pie Trail is a curated multi-stop Beaver Valley route through orchards, ciders, bakeries, and farm-gate stops, anchored at apple harvest in late summer and fall. Inside Grey Highlands the route passes through Markdale, Flesherton, Eugenia, and Kimberley with seasonal farmers' markets in the village cores. Grey County Tourism's Apple Pie Trail page maps the participating stops and the harvest-window timing.
