Freshwater Fishing.
The Beaver River, downstream of Eugenia Lake, carries an annual fall Chinook salmon run and a spring rainbow trout (steelhead) run pushing up from Georgian Bay each year. Resident brown trout hold in upper-river reaches; the Boyne River — a tributary of the Beaver — runs cold enough for small-stream brook trout and rainbow.
All three waters fall under Ontario's Fisheries Management Zone 16.
The brief.
The Grey Highlands stretches of the Beaver River are the upstream end of a Georgian Bay tributary fishery; the river-mouth fishing at Thornbury Pier sits in the adjacent Blue Mountains township. Inside Grey Highlands the river is small-stream water — wadeable in low-flow conditions — and access is a mix of road-bridge crossings and private land.
Eugenia Lake, the Beaver River reservoir above the falls, holds bass and walleye. Plan around FMZ 16 seasons and species-specific limits; the Ontario MNRF FMZ 16 regulations summary is the authoritative source.
Stocking, sanctuary closures, and slot limits change year to year, so check the current summary before each trip.
