Nature & Discovery.
The Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary on the St. Lawrence Seaway shoreline near Morrisburg and Ingleside is a federally designated Migratory Bird Sanctuary established in 1961 — a documented major fall staging area for Canada geese and ducks.
The St. Lawrence Parks Commission operates a Nature Centre, an observation tower, and roughly 8 km of walking and birdwatching trails on Parks Commission land within the federal sanctuary boundary.
The brief.
The Migratory Bird Sanctuary is the lead nature-discovery surface in South Dundas: federally designated by Environment and Climate Change Canada in 1961, jointly managed for visitor access by the St. Lawrence Parks Commission.
Hunting is prohibited within the federal sanctuary boundary, and visitor activity is restricted to the designated trails and the Nature Centre — that's the regulatory frame. Best birding seasons are spring migration (May) and fall migration (late September through November), when the staging concentrations build.
The Nature Centre operates seasonally on a posted schedule. South Nation Conservation manages a smaller inland trail network at Warwick Forest and Two Creeks Conservation Area in the South Nation River watershed — separate watershed authority, separate property network, both with signed walking trails.
