Swimming & Beach.
The Township of Ramara maintains five public beaches along 104 kilometres of Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching shoreline. Brechin Beach is the central anchor — a 45-metre stretch off Lakeshore Drive sampled weekly by the Swim Guide from June 1 through September 8 — and Mara Provincial Park's sandy beach handles the camping side of the lake.
Lagoon City layers a public beach onto the canal network plus two private community beaches.
The brief.
All Township of Ramara beaches are unsupervised; visitors swim at their own risk. Brechin Beach water-quality sampling runs weekly from June 1 through September 8, with results posted on the Swim Guide.
Lagoon City's public beach is a family-friendly draw with a playground; the two community beaches there are private. Lake Simcoe water is at its warmest in late July and August; June and September are noticeably cooler.
Mara Provincial Park's sandy beach operates as part of the park's seasonal access (May 8 to September 7, 2026) and requires a day-use vehicle permit during the operating season.
