Sailing & Boating.
Lock 41 Gamebridge sits at the head of the Talbot River — the first of five manual locks that lift Trent-Severn Waterway boats 22.2 metres across an 8 kilometre stretch into the Lake Simcoe / Talbot River system. Atherley Narrows is the channel between Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching where the Trent-Severn carries through under Highway 12, and Lagoon City's 16 kilometres of canals make Brechin a Lake Simcoe boating community in their own right.
The brief.
The Trent-Severn Waterway navigation season runs roughly mid-May through mid-October; locking through Lock 41 requires the Parks Canada navigation fee and locks are staffed seasonally. The Gamebridge to Couchiching corridor includes Talbot Locks 39–41 and Lock 42 Couchiching — five manual locks in eight kilometres represent meaningful elevation change for a small craft.
Lake Simcoe is exposure-sensitive open water; the canal network at Lagoon City is sheltered. Brechin Dry Dock Marine (formerly Lagoon City Marina) is the principal Ramara-side moorage on Lake Simcoe.
Atherley Narrows is signed for the Trent-Severn and busy in summer with through-traffic between Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching.
