Nature & Discovery.
Quinte Field Naturalists curates the regional birding inventory across Goodrich-Loomis Conservation Area's mixed forest and Canadian Shield habitat, Sager Conservation Area, and the Bay of Quinte shoreline waterfowl and raptor migration corridor. The Murray Canal corridor adds sheltered marsh-edge habitat between the Bay of Quinte and Presqu'ile Bay.
The brief.
The two Lower Trent Conservation properties inside Quinte West (Goodrich-Loomis and Sager) carry the in-city forest birding substrate; the Bay of Quinte and Murray Canal corridor are the spring and fall flyway substrate for waterfowl and migrating raptors at the western end of the bay. Quinte Field Naturalists is the active local natural-history society and the source of the regional birding inventory.
Best birding seasons are spring (April–May) and fall (September–October) migration; Goodrich-Loomis is productive year-round for forest birds. The Murray Canal corridor and Bay of Quinte shoreline are easiest from spring through fall.
