Walking & Strolling.
HH Knoll Lakeview Park, the canal-mouth piers, and the West Street downtown corridor along the canal form a flat, easy walking ribbon at the south end of the Welland Canal. The Welland Canals Parkway Trail path heads north out of the city along the canal corridor on the same paved surface used by cyclists.
The brief.
Most of Port Colborne's central walking is flat, paved, and concentrated on the lakefront and canal-mouth ribbon — HH Knoll Lakeview Park on Lake Erie, the canal-mouth piers, and West Street downtown. On warm days you can walk the piers, watch a freighter clear Lock 8, and continue north toward the Welland boundary on the Welland Canals Parkway Trail.
The Lakeshore Road corridor adds a quieter west-of-canal walk past Mariner's Park and the residential lakefront. The downtown waterfront is comfortable May through October and walkable year-round on most days; the Welland Canals Parkway Trail north of downtown depends on snow conditions in winter.
