Sailing & Boating.

The Town Dock and Big Sound Marina anchor downtown Parry Sound's harbour — a deep natural harbour at the mouth of the Seguin River fronting Big Sound, with transient and seasonal slip product available through the Town. Wasauksing First Nation's Parry Island sits directly offshore, connected to the mainland by the Wasauksing Swing Bridge, and the open Georgian Bay water and 30,000 Islands archipelago stretch west from the harbour mouth.

01 — What to know

The brief.

The Parry Sound sailing season runs roughly May through October on Big Sound and the open Georgian Bay water beyond the harbour mouth. The Town Dock (downtown, in front of the Stockey Centre) and the Big Sound Marina are the main slip product, with transient and seasonal arrangements through the Town.

The 30,000 Islands offshore are one of the more storied small-craft cruising grounds on the Great Lakes — but the islands sit in adjacent townships per scope discipline; the Town is the launch and resupply base. The Wasauksing Swing Bridge to Parry Island is on the harbour's south side and connects Wasauksing First Nation's territory to the mainland.

Big Sound itself stays sheltered; open Georgian Bay water builds quickly with wind.
