Niagara Falls.
Niagara Falls is the City of Niagara Falls — the Canadian-side city wrapped around the Horseshoe, American and Bridal Veil falls, the Niagara Gorge below them, the Whirlpool, the Niagara Glen and the Niagara Parkway from Chippawa to Queenston. The Niagara Parks Commission, an Ontario government agency founded in 1885, manages the 55–56 km Parkway corridor end-to-end alongside the Niagara Glen Nature Reserve, the Whirlpool grounds, Dufferin Islands and the falls overlooks at Table Rock.
The Niagara Glen is the only legal access to the gorge floor, with about 4 km of rugged Carolinian-forest trails (Terrace, Cobblestone, Trillium, Whirlpool) and the principal sanctioned bouldering venue in Southern Ontario at the base. The Niagara River Recreation Trail runs the Parkway in four sections from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake, threading the falls themselves and the Whirlpool.
Below the falls, the lower Niagara stays open year-round — the Whirlpool drift water and Devils Hole reach hold the iconic Ontario steelhead and chinook salmon fishery, and the river corridor was the first North American site dedicated as a Globally Significant Important Bird Area, in December 1996. About an hour and a half from Toronto via the Queen Elizabeth Way; the land is within the Mississaugas of the Credit's 1781 Treaty at Niagara.

Hiking
The Niagara Glen Nature Reserve is the only legal access to the Niagara Gorge floor, with about 4 km of rugged Carolinian-forest trails — Terrace, Cobblestone, Trillium and Whirlpool — descending from the Nature Centre at 3050 Niagara Parkway. The Bruce Trail's Niagara Section traverses the Glen between the Whirlpool and the Nature Centre as part of the 80.5 km Queenston → Grimsby leg. Dufferin Islands south of Table Rock adds an easy paved-and-gravel loop through a 10-acre nature park.

The Table Rock viewing complex at the Horseshoe Falls overlook anchors the Parkway promenade, and from there the river-edge walking path runs north along the Niagara Parkway toward the Whirlpool and south toward Dufferin Islands. Niagara Parks manages the entire corridor; Dufferin Islands' loop trail connects ten acres of small islands and footbridges south of Table Rock, with winter use through the Festival of Lights from November through January.

The Niagara River Recreation Trail runs the full Parkway corridor from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake in four sections (NOTL → Queenston, Queenston → Whirlpool Aero Car, Chippawa → Black Creek, Black Creek → Fort Erie), and the City of Niagara Falls segment threads the falls themselves and the Whirlpool. Paved, flat, river-edge, and managed end-to-end by Niagara Parks; Niagara Parks Commission cites a 56 km trail figure across the corridor. The Niagara Falls leg is the most-recognized stretch — the falls are the destination of the ride.

Niagara Glen Nature Reserve is the sanctioned bouldering venue on the Niagara Gorge floor — Niagara Parks runs the permit system and stewards the area. The blocks sit in Carolinian forest at the base of the gorge, reached by stairways from the Niagara Glen Nature Centre at 3050 Niagara Parkway. Permits are purchased online (with up to 48-hour processing) or in person at the Nature Centre during seasonal hours, or year-round at the Butterfly Conservatory.

The Whirlpool drift water and the Devils Hole reach below the falls hold the iconic Ontario-side lower-Niagara salmonid fishery — chinook salmon, coho salmon, steelhead (rainbow trout), brown trout, lake trout, smallmouth bass and walleye. The river stays unfrozen below the falls, which is why the species mix is rich and the fishery runs year-round. The upper Niagara at Chippawa above the falls is governed by Fisheries Management Zone 19; the lower river is governed by Ontario Great Lakes regulations.

Bald eagles over-winter on the open water below the falls. Principal Canadian-side viewing is at the Sir Adam Beck overlooks and the Niagara Glen Nature Area.

The Niagara Parks Commission itself, founded in 1885, is one of the older provincial conservation institutions in Canada — the 55–56 km Niagara Parkway it manages was completed Lake Erie to Lake Ontario in 1931. Winston Churchill, after a 1943 drive along the Parkway, called it "the prettiest Sunday afternoon drive in the world." Table Rock and the falls overlooks have been part of the Niagara Parks-managed civic infrastructure since the Commission's founding, alongside the Niagara Glen and Dufferin Islands.
