Walking & Strolling.
The Hunters Bay Trail's 4.6 kilometres carry a 500-metre floating boardwalk over Hunter's Bay — the headline downtown walking corridor — and pass through Avery Beach Park before crossing under the Highway 11 bridge to East Airport Road. River Mill Park sits on the Muskoka River downtown, and the Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery's downtown cluster of murals threads the building exteriors of Main Street.
The brief.
Most of central Huntsville's walking is flat or gently rolling, concentrated along the Muskoka River downtown ribbon and the Hunters Bay Trail's lakeside corridor. The Hunters Bay Trail accepts walking, running, and cycling — it is non-motorized, with the floating boardwalk as the visual anchor.
Lion's Lookout, a short steep municipal trail above Fairy Lake, ends at a four-pillar red-roofed gazebo with sweeping views — it's a 0.6-mile loop with about 30 metres of elevation gain, walkable year-round with leashed dogs welcome. The Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery's downtown route is fully outdoor and free; the visitor information booth in the Algonquin Theatre at 37 Main Street East operates May through September and provides the printed map.
