Cycling.
The Elora Cataract Trailway runs 47 kilometres east from Elora to Cataract — a former Canadian Pacific corridor managed by the Elora Cataract Trailway Association as a multi-use rail trail. The western terminus sits on the edge of Elora; the trailway threads east through Fergus before continuing into Erin and on toward Caledon.
Wellington County rural concession roads link the two downtowns for road riding.
The brief.
The Elora Cataract Trailway is the regional cycling backbone; Centre Wellington access points are at Elora (western terminus), Fergus, and the township-eastern segment toward Hillsburgh. Surface is mostly stonedust on the Centre Wellington stretch, suitable for hybrid and gravel bikes; full road bikes work the county roads instead.
Best season is May through October; the trailway thins in shoulder season and is unmaintained in winter. The trailway extends well beyond Centre Wellington into Erin and Caledon — long-distance riders can stitch the full corridor in a day's ride.
