Camping.

Two GRCA frontcountry campgrounds anchor Centre Wellington: Elora Gorge Conservation Area sits on the canyon rim with the tube run, the gorge trails, and the Quarry just downstream, and Belwood Lake Conservation Area sits on the reservoir above Shand Dam. Both reserve through the Grand River Conservation Authority booking system and run May through October.

01 — What to know

The brief.

Elora Gorge is the busier of the two — the campground sits a short walk from the tube put-in and the gorge-rim trails, and the Quarry swim site is the next conservation area downstream. Belwood Lake is the quieter campground, anchored on the reservoir with the lake beach, the boat launch, and the flatwater paddling.

Both are frontcountry (drive-up sites with potable water and facilities), reservable through GRCA, and seasonal — typical opening late May, typical closing mid-October. Reservoir water levels at Belwood fluctuate as Shand Dam releases for downstream flow augmentation.
