Swimming & Beach.
Cobden Beach on Muskrat Lake is the village beach in Cobden, with sand frontage and a shallow swim area. Westmeath Provincial Park, a non-operating provincial park on the Ottawa River within / adjacent to the township, protects a sand-beach and dune system used for day-use river swimming.
The brief.
Both beaches are seasonal and lifeguard-free. Cobden Beach is the village swim spot on Muskrat Lake; Westmeath Provincial Park is a non-operating PP — there are no fees, gates, or staff, but also no facilities beyond the day-use beach and dune access.
Swimmers on the Ottawa River should stay well out of the Rocher Fendu / McCoy's Chute whitewater section between Foresters Falls and Westmeath — current is serious and the stretch is actively used by rafting and kayak traffic. Best swimming season is late June through August.
