Sailing & Boating.

Muskrat Lake at Cobden carries small-craft sailing and motor-boating off the village waterfront, with a public boat launch and the long, narrow lake basin opening for cruising. The Ottawa River through the township is broad and navigable for cruising motor-boating in the calm sections above and below the Rocher Fendu whitewater.

01 — What to know

The brief.

Best season is mid-May through October. Muskrat Lake's village launch is the main public access.

On the Ottawa River, motor-boats should hold well off the whitewater stretch between Foresters Falls and Westmeath — rafting and freestyle kayak traffic concentrates on the Rocher Fendu run, and current is significant. The Quebec-side bank is across the channel and out of the township; navigation crossing the channel falls under federal Transport Canada rules.
