Sailing & Boating.

Port Whitby Marina at the foot of Brock Street South is the Town-managed harbour for Whitby Bay — transient docking, a public boat launch, and the Whitby Yacht Club operating from the same harbour. Whitby Bay opens onto open Lake Ontario, putting Whitby on the same Great Lakes sailing corridor as Toronto, Pickering, Oshawa, Cobourg, and Prince Edward County.

Sailing & Boating in Whitby
01 — What to know

The brief.

The Whitby sailing season runs roughly May through October, with the marina open through the warm-weather window. Whitby Yacht Club operates from the harbour and runs the local club calendar.

From Port Whitby, sailing west reaches Pickering and the Toronto inner harbour within a day's sail; east opens toward Oshawa, Cobourg, and the inner reaches of Prince Edward County. Lake Ontario fetch off Whitby is exposed once outside the harbour entrance — afternoon wind can be substantial.

The harbour's location on the Lakeshore East GO Transit corridor makes Whitby an accessible Great Lakes sailing port within an hour of downtown Toronto.
