Camping.
Chippawa Creek Conservation Area is the NPCA-operated frontcountry campground anchored on the Welland River corridor west of the city — drive-up sites, standard NPCA infrastructure, a stocked fishing pond on site, and short rural trails. It's a quieter alternative to the busier Niagara campgrounds along Lake Erie.
The brief.
Chippawa Creek is seasonal — typical NPCA operation is May through October — and reservations run through the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority's campground booking system. The campground is frontcountry: drive-up sites, standard NPCA infrastructure, no backcountry product.
The setting is rural and inland, on the Welland River corridor, which gives a different feel than the Lake Erie shoreline NPCA campgrounds at Long Beach (in Wainfleet) and the lakefront product further east. The on-site fishing pond is stocked and managed by NPCA — convenient for short fishing outings from camp.
There is no campground at the Welland Recreational Waterway / Welland International Flatwater Centre — the downtown corridor is day-use only.
