Walking & Strolling.

A thirteen-minute ferry from the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal at Bay and Queens Quay puts you on the Toronto Islands — eighteen islands, roughly 5 kilometres end to end, connected by bridges and pathways with a 1.5 kilometre year-round boardwalk. East of downtown, the Beaches Boardwalk runs 3.5 kilometres from Ashbridges Bay through Woodbine, Kew-Balmy, and Silver Birch beaches past the R.C.

Walking & Strolling in Toronto
01 — What to know

The brief.

The Islands ferry runs year-round from the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal at the foot of Bay Street and Queens Quay; Centreville amusement park and most beach lifeguarding operate May through September only. Electric scooters, motorcycles, and e-bikes over 40 kg are not permitted on the Islands.

Tommy Thompson Park's 5 km paved access road is open to the public only on weekends, holidays, and weekdays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. — the site is an active TRCA construction lakefill outside those hours, and off-trail access into the colonial bird nesting areas is closed during the breeding season. High Park's paved paths and Colborne Lodge area are open year-round; cherry blossom peak is late April / early May, a 4–10 day window.
