Rock Climbing.

Metcalfe Rock, on the Niagara Escarpment edge above the Kolapore Creek Valley, is one of Southern Ontario's recognized dolostone crags for sport, trad, top-rope, and bouldering. The escarpment rock here is the same Niagara dolostone that defines the Bruce Peninsula climbing further north along the trail.

Rock Climbing in The Blue Mountains
01 — What to know

The brief.

Metcalfe Rock sits within the Kolapore Uplands trail network managed by the Kolapore Wilderness Trails Association — climbers share the access trail with hikers reaching the summit overlook. Devil's Glen and Old Baldy edge into Grey Highlands proper but are reachable from Beaver Valley road approaches; their tier-credit belongs to those municipalities for boundary discipline.

May through October is the established climbing window. Wet escarpment rock in shoulder season is a real consideration on dolostone.
