Hiking.
The Bruce Trail's Peninsula Section runs north from Wiarton along the Niagara Escarpment cliffs above Colpoy's Bay, threading Spirit Rock Conservation Area where a stairway descent passes the 1881 Corran estate ruins on the way to the bay below. The escarpment-rim trail offers Colpoy's Bay outlooks before continuing north toward Hope Bay; Sauble Falls Provincial Park adds a flatter day-hike option on the Lake Huron side.
The brief.
The Bruce Trail Conservancy stewards the main white-blazed Peninsula Section through the township; access is only where the Conservancy holds an easement and hikers should stay on the marked main trail. The Spirit Rock stairway descent is steep and exposed in places — the cliff edge along the rim is unfenced.
Inglis Falls–style waterfall viewing at Sauble Falls Provincial Park happens from designated platforms; the park is open year-round for day-use, with summer camping. Best hiking season is May through October; mid-September through mid-October layers Niagara Escarpment fall colours over the Peninsula Section.
Lake-effect snow off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay closes some sections informally in deep winter.
