Swimming & Beach.
Bayview Memorial Park at Shanty Bay, Carthew Bay, and Hawkestone Memorial Park form the township's Lake Simcoe shoreline beach trio — public Township of Oro-Medonte waterfront parks with beach access alongside picnic facilities and boat launches. The deep cold water along the lake's north shore keeps swimming sharper through the summer than the warmer southern bays.
The brief.
The three Township parks anchor Oro-Medonte's Lake Simcoe swimming, with shoreline access, picnic facilities, and parking on the lake's north shore. Lake Simcoe water temperatures along the north shore are typically cooler than along the lake's south end through July and August.
The principal swimming season runs June through September; beach use is unsupervised at most Township parks (no formal lifeguarding beyond the swim-area markings). Public swim access on the north shore is concentrated at the three Township parks rather than spread across the shoreline — most of the rest of the north-shore frontage is private cottage land.
