Walking & Strolling.
The Rotary Walkway loops 2.0 km around the Maitland River through Listowel Memorial Park, with a fully accessible concrete-and-stone-dust surface that is lighted year-round and grades into the parkland and downtown core. Memorial Park's amphitheatre at 455 Royal St.
E. overlooks the naturalized river — the heart of in-town walking in North Perth.
The brief.
The Rotary Walkway is the most accessible walking surface in the municipality and the only documented in-town walking loop on the Maitland River — it works for walking, stroller use, cross-country skiing, and off-road cycling. The Listowel Historic Walking Tour, a self-guided route stewarded by the North Perth Chamber of Commerce, threads the downtown limestone-and-brick old-town core away from the river.
Outside Listowel, the rail-trail network described under Hiking carries the rest of the municipality's walking substrate. Year-round access on the Rotary Walkway and downtown Historic Walking Tour; May through October is the most comfortable window for the soft-surface rail-trail segments.
