Hiking.
The Hardy Lake Provincial Park trails — 3 km and 8 km loops on Township-maintained tread inside an 808-hectare non-operating park at 2346 Muskoka Rd 169 in Torrance — carry the longest distances in the Muskoka Lakes network. Add the 3 km, 5 km, and 6 km Torrance Barrens loops off Southwood Road and the iconic 2.5 km Huckleberry Rock Lookout Trail at 1057 Milford Bay Rd, on a 120-acre Township park overlooking Lake Muskoka, and nine named municipal and provincial trails together cover rolling Canadian Shield terrain.
The brief.
Trails are walk-up and free, maintained by the Township of Muskoka Lakes; the Township-maintained partnership includes Hardy Lake PP, where Ontario Parks owns the land but the Township handles trail upkeep on the day-use park. Most trails sit at the easy-to-moderate end (Skeleton Lake Fish Hatchery 1 km, Walker's Point 1 km, Walker's Point Lookout 1 km), with the Torrance Barrens 3/5/6 km loops rated difficult and the Hardy Lake 8 km loop the longest moderate-to-difficult line.
The Township page is the canonical inventory; addresses anchor each trailhead. May through October is the maintained window; winter snowshoe use continues on Huckleberry Rock, Hazelwood, Skeleton Lake Fish Hatchery, and Walker's Point Lookout once cover sets.
