Paddling — Flatwater.
Erindale Park is the primary canoe / kayak put-in on the lower Credit River, with about 7 km of seasonal flatwater downstream to the river mouth at Port Credit. Sheltered Lake Ontario launches at Lakefront Promenade Park (33 ha of lagoons) and the Port Credit Harbour Marina at the Credit River mouth open onto the Mississauga shoreline.
The brief.
The Erindale-to-Port-Credit lower Credit run is best in spring through early summer when river flows support the float; mid-summer flows can drop low enough that the Old Erindale Dam remnants (visible in the river just downstream of the Erindale Park access) become an obstacle worth scouting in advance. Take-outs along the way are limited — Streetsville Memorial Park is upstream; downstream of Erindale, the natural take-out is at Port Credit Memorial Park East or the Port Credit Harbour Marina.
On the lake side, the Port Credit Harbour Marina (at the river mouth, paid mooring/launch) and the Lakefront Promenade boat launch (33-ha park east of Port Credit) give sheltered access to Lake Ontario; the lagoons at Lakefront Promenade are a good intro paddle for SUP and beginner kayak. Lake Ontario beyond the breakwaters is wind-exposed; check the marine forecast before paddling out of the harbour.
