Paddling — Flatwater.

Wye Marsh's wetland channels open out from the Friends of Wye Marsh dock — sheltered paddling on the Wye River and through 3,000 acres of provincially significant Class 1 wetland adjacent to Sainte-Marie among the Hurons. The Wildlife Centre rents canoes on site in summer; the marsh is the most distinctive flatwater paddling product in Midland.

01 — What to know

The brief.

Wye Marsh canoe rentals are seasonal — typically open through summer alongside the centre's outdoor programming. The marsh channels are sheltered and shallow, well-suited to first-time paddlers and family trips, with waterfowl, beaver, and turtle viewing along the way.

Inside town, Little Lake offers a small flatwater alternative for SUP and short canoe trips on the central Midland waterfront, with Little Lake Park access points; admission to Wye Marsh is required at the Wildlife Centre. Best season is May through October; admission and rental hours follow the Wildlife Centre schedule.
