Sailing & Boating.

Meaford Harbour sits on the south shore of Georgian Bay between Owen Sound and Collingwood — the township's municipal harbour and marina with a breakwater-protected basin and access into open Georgian Bay cruising waters. From the harbour, sailors run east along the shore toward the Nottawasaga Bay corner of The Blue Mountains and west toward Owen Sound and the Bruce Peninsula approach.

01 — What to know

The brief.

The Meaford sailing season runs roughly May through October on Georgian Bay. The municipal harbour is the principal launch and small-craft basin inside the township.

Lake-effect summer weather can build quickly off the open bay — squalls and afternoon thermal winds are typical. East of Meaford, the south Georgian Bay shoreline inside the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre is closed to public landing; sailing routes plan around that block.

Beyond local cruising, the broader Georgian Bay sailing region extends north toward the Bruce Peninsula and east through the Nottawasaga corner.
