Snow Adventure.
The 156-kilometre Hastings Heritage Trail passes through the village of Marmora — the EOTA-managed rail-trail corridor running south from Lake St. Peter through Madoc and Marmora to Glen Ross in Quinte West, and the township's primary OFSC snowmobile route.
The Marmora Mine viewing area is a featured stop on EOTA's Tweed–Bancroft snowmobile route through the Centre Hastings region.
The brief.
The Hastings Heritage Trail is the headline winter use, with snowmobile traffic running on OFSC permits and grooming coordinated by EOTA. The Centre Hastings Heritage Loop links Marmora with Madoc and Stirling on a multi-day rail-trail circuit, and the Marmora Crowe River Trail (accessed via Highway 7 and McLeary Road) connects into the Trans Canada Trail system.
The standard snowmobile window is mid-December through mid-March, dependent on Shield-corridor snow cover and groomed-trail status. EOTA passes for ATV / dirtbike are $150 annual / $75 weekly / $25 daily; walking, jogging, skiing, cycling, and horseback riding on the Hastings Heritage Trail are free year-round.
Snowshoeing is plausible on the in-village trail network (Brian Goodchild Trail, Nayler's Common) and on the conservation-area surfaces, weather permitting.
