Hiking.
Crowe Bridge Conservation Area at 670 Crowe River Road carries the township's most accessible hiking — easy river-edge trails along a weir-dam swimming pool a short drive south of the village of Marmora. West of the village on Highway 7, Callaghan's Rapids Conservation Area drops three short trails to the Crowe River through eroded-limestone rapids, and the route passes two iron bridges that are part of the Trans Canada Trail.
The brief.
The Crowe Valley Conservation Authority — headquartered in Marmora since 1958 — manages 1,300 acres across four conservation areas (Crowe Bridge, Callaghan's Rapids, The Gut, McGeachie). Crowe Bridge requires paid admission and parking; Callaghan's Rapids is a passive-use area with a small parking lot off Tiffen Road and Callaghan Rapids Road.
The Gut and McGeachie were both subject to a 2022 trail-closure announcement from the Municipality — check the CVCA page for current status before visiting. Inside the village, the Brian Goodchild Trail links Memorial Park (9 Matthew Street) to Mag's Landing Park along the Crowe River, and Nayler's Common Parks & Recreation Trail (60 Matthew Street) follows a marsh edge from Victoria Day to Thanksgiving.
The Hastings Heritage Trail's 156-kilometre EOTA corridor passes through the village; walking, jogging, skiing, and cycling are free.
