Paddling — Flatwater.
Crowe Lake spreads four square miles two miles northwest of the village of Marmora — a Hastings / Peterborough county-line lake fed and drained by the Crowe River, with the Booster Park municipal boat launch and lake-shore campground at 199 Booster Park Road as the primary public access. From the Crowe Lake outlet, the river flows south through the village past Mag's Landing Park and Legion Park into the Crowe Valley CVCA conservation-area corridor.
The brief.
Three connected flatwater systems anchor paddling in the township: Crowe Lake itself (sheltered, lake-shore camping at Booster Park, Victoria Day to Thanksgiving); the Crowe River through the village (downtown launches at Mag's Landing on the river outlet and Legion Park downstream); and Beaver Creek, which joins the Crowe River north of the village near Shanick on a quieter marsh-edge route. The standard window is mid-May through Thanksgiving — Booster Park's municipal beach and campground close after Thanksgiving.
Spring high water on the Crowe River raises the difficulty around Callaghan's Rapids and the in-river drops there; the river is generally flatwater above and below those passive-conservation features. Crowe Lake / Crowe River anglers and paddlers share the FMZ 17 walleye exception (see Fishing sub-guide for the season window).
