Walking & Strolling.
Springbank Park covers 140 hectares along the Thames south of downtown and contains Storybook Gardens; the Thames Valley Parkway threads it on its way through the city. Downtown, the Heritage Conservation District runs from Victoria Park through Eldon House — London's oldest residence, dating to 1834 — to Museum London at the Forks of the Thames.
Harris Park sits at the Forks; Gibbons Park lies upstream near Western University.
The brief.
The downtown London walking ribbon is flat, paved, and well-connected: Victoria Park in the heart of the Heritage Conservation District, Harris Park at the Forks of the Thames, Gibbons Park along the river just north toward Western University, and the Thames Valley Parkway carrying the Thames corridor through all of them. Springbank Park (140 ha) is the largest single City park and is comfortable in any season; Storybook Gardens runs a seasonal calendar inside it.
The downtown HCD is designated under the Ontario Heritage Act, and the Heritage London Foundation runs walking tours through it. Year-round access; April through November is the most comfortable window.
