Camping.

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority operates the campground at Fanshawe Conservation Area on the shore of Fanshawe Lake — frontcountry car-camping with serviced and unserviced sites on 1,012 hectares of UTRCA land in the northeast of the city. The campground sits next to the swimming beach, paddle launches, and trail network, which makes Fanshawe the city's main combined camp-and-day-use base.

01 — What to know

The brief.

Fanshawe is a UTRCA conservation area, not a provincial park — bookings and rules go through UTRCA rather than Ontario Parks. The campground operates seasonally, typically May through mid-October; reservations are recommended for summer weekends.

Sites are serviced and unserviced frontcountry style suited to tents and RVs. Within the 1,012-hectare area, campers have direct access to the Fanshawe Lake swimming beach, paddle launches for canoes, kayaks, and SUPs on the lake, the trail network, and disc golf.

A day-use vehicle fee applies for non-camping visitors.
