Innisfil.
Innisfil sits on Lake Simcoe's southwest shore between Barrie and Bradford, with about 25 kilometres of shoreline running from Big Bay Point at the mouth of Kempenfelt Bay south to Cook's Bay at Lefroy and Belle Ewart. Innisfil Beach Park — roughly 50 acres on Cook's Bay with a long sand beach, three boat launch ramps, a marina, and a splash pad — is the largest municipal lakefront park on Lake Simcoe and the town's defining outdoor space.
Friday Harbour at Big Bay Point adds a 1,000-slip marina (one of the largest on Lake Simcoe), the Marina Village, and the Nest 18-hole course on a master-planned lakefront parcel that opened in 2017. In winter, Cook's Bay turns into one of southern Ontario's busiest ice-fishing destinations under Ontario Fisheries Management Zone 16.
The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority regulates shoreline activity within 120 metres of the lake under the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan, and the Tom Taylor Trail follows the former Hamilton & Northwestern Railway corridor through town as part of the Trans Canada Trail.

Walking & Strolling
The flat lakefront walkway inside Innisfil Beach Park runs along Cook's Bay between the swim beach, the boat ramps, and the marina — a short shore-side route that's open year-round and easy to combine with the splash pad and picnic shelters. North of the park, the Tom Taylor Trail follows the former Hamilton & Northwestern Railway corridor through Innisfil as part of the Trans Canada Trail, with mixed crushed-stone and paved sections that handle family walking. Lakeshore Drive between Big Bay Point and Lefroy traces the immediate shoreline through Sandy Cove and Alcona for a longer pavement walk.

The Tom Taylor Trail's Innisfil segment offers the easiest off-road cycling in the town, following the abandoned Hamilton & Northwestern Railway corridor as part of the Trans Canada Trail north toward Barrie and south toward Cookstown. Lakeshore Drive between Big Bay Point, Sandy Cove, Alcona, and Lefroy is the standard on-road shore route — almost flat, with views of Cook's Bay and Kempenfelt Bay's mouth. The wider Innisfil town road network is gently rolling agricultural land and supports road riding outside the immediate shoreline.

Friday Harbour at Big Bay Point operates a 1,000-slip marina — one of the largest on Lake Simcoe — at the south side of Kempenfelt Bay's mouth, with the Marina Village and the Nest golf course on the same master-planned parcel. Innisfil Beach Park's marina adds three public boat launch ramps and a town-operated dock on Cook's Bay, making the park the standard public launch on the Innisfil side of Lake Simcoe. From either marina, sailors and powerboaters run out into one of Ontario's busiest recreational lakes — Cook's Bay south, Kempenfelt Bay north, and the open Lake Simcoe basin east toward Georgina Island and the Atherley Narrows.

Innisfil Beach Park runs about 50 acres on Cook's Bay at the foot of Innisfil Beach Road in Alcona, with a long sand beach that anchors the town's identity as a Lake Simcoe waterfront community. Cook's Bay is shallower than the deep central trough of Kempenfelt Bay to the north, so summer water at the swimming beach warms earlier and stays in the upper teens to low 20s through July and August. Belle Ewart Beach, a smaller public beach a short distance south, adds a second town-managed swim. The park itself includes three boat launch ramps, a marina, a splash pad, sports fields, and picnic shelters; day-use parking is paid in season for non-residents.

Cook's Bay is one of southern Ontario's busiest winter ice-fishing destinations. From January through mid-March, the bay carries hut camps for perch, lake trout, and whitefish under Ontario Fisheries Management Zone 16, with hut-rental operators running out of the Innisfil shoreline. Big Bay Point sits at the mouth of Kempenfelt Bay on the same deep cold-water habitat that holds lake trout and whitefish year-round. In open water, the bay edge off Innisfil Beach Park holds perch and panfish; lake trout and whitefish concentrate in the deeper Kempenfelt water at Big Bay Point. Lake trout season runs January 1 through March 15 and from the second Saturday in May through September 30.

When ice forms safely on Cook's Bay each winter — typically January and February — the bay surface anchors a regional pleasure-skating and ice-walking scene alongside the ice-fishing huts. The Innisfil Recreational Complex maintains an outdoor municipal rink, and Innisfil Beach Park's grounds are walkable on snowshoes through the winter. Cook's Bay ice and the ice-fishing camps together make winter on the bay a primary outdoor draw for the town, parallel to the summer beach season.
