Camping.
Lake St. Peter Provincial Park is the township's marquee camping anchor — 65 campsites including 26 with electrical hookups across 478 hectares of recreational-class park between the northern shoreline of Lake St.
Peter and the southern shoreline of McKenzie Lake, with two sandy beaches, a comfort station, and a small park-store at the gatehouse renting canoes. Egan Chutes Provincial Park adds six backcountry campsites along the York River for paddlers running the chutes route.
The brief.
Lake St. Peter Provincial Park operates seasonally — 2026 dates run May 8 through October 13 — and reservations route through the standard Ontario Parks reservation system at 356 Lake St.
Peter Road. The campground includes a comfort station with toilets, showers, and laundry, plus a trailer sanitation station, a wood yard, a boat launch, and a day-use area.
Of the 65 sites, 26 are electrical. The park reported 21,431 visitors in 2022.
Egan Chutes Provincial Park is non-operating: six backcountry campsites are listed but the park has no facilities, no guard rails at the chutes, and reservations are not handled by the standard Ontario Parks reservation system. Both parks sit within the Algonquins of Ontario Settlement Area; Hastings County is part of the AOO claim.
