Cycling.
The Royal Recreation Trail runs along the Speed River through downtown, connecting Riverside Park north of the core to Royal City Park and on to the south end of the city — the spine of the urban cycling network.
The brief.
The Royal Recreation Trail and the Speed River Trail combine to form a continuous riverside multi-use corridor through downtown. The Trans Canada Trail crosses Guelph along the same Speed River corridor.
North of the city, rural Wellington County concession roads link Guelph to Centre Wellington (Fergus and Elora) along light-traffic county roads — a popular intermediate-distance road-riding loop. Guelph Lake Conservation Area carries lake-loop and grassland trail riding inside the property; modest off-road, not destination MTB.
Best season is May through October.
