Guelph Lake Conservation Area is the city's frontcountry camping anchor — a Grand River Conservation Authority property covering about 1,623 hectares around the reservoir on the Speed River north of town.

The campground runs reservable serviced and unserviced sites May through October. The same property carries the swimming beach, day-use area, and paddling launches.
There is no other frontcountry campground inside the City of Guelph; backcountry camping is not available. Reservations open through GRCA in winter for the upcoming season; sites book quickly for July and August weekends.
