Freshwater Fishing.

The Credit River below the Forks of the Credit is the upper end of one of southern Ontario's premier migratory rainbow trout (steelhead) and resident brown trout reaches — spring runs March through May and fall runs October through November. Glen Haffy Conservation Area's fee-fishing rainbow trout ponds on the escarpment near Mono Mills run a TRCA-managed booking programme, and Ken Whillans Resource Management Area in Caledon is a CVC-stocked rainbow trout pond.

Freshwater Fishing in Caledon
01 — What to know

The brief.

A valid Ontario Outdoors Card and recreational fishing licence are required for all river and pond fishing; Caledon sits in Fisheries Management Zone 16 under standard Ontario Fishing Regulations. The Credit River steelhead reach below the Forks is best fished March through May during the spring run, with fall steelhead movement October through November; brown trout hold through the warmer months.

Inside Caledon the Forks of the Credit pools and the section immediately downstream toward Halton Hills are the in-region fishing access points, while the most productive steelhead water runs further downstream through Halton Hills' Norval and Glen Williams reaches and eventually to Mississauga. Glen Haffy's stocked-rainbow programme works as a fee-fishing alternative for guaranteed catch and family fishing — booking required through TRCA.

Ken Whillans (CVC) and Terra Cotta CA's Vaughan Pond (CVC) round out the stocked-pond options. Always check current Fisheries Management Zone 16 special regulations before fishing.
