Cycling.

The Caledon Trailway runs 36 kilometres across the town as part of the Trans Canada Trail, on a crushed-stone surface from Terra Cotta in the southwest to Palgrave in the northeast — a flat gravel-and-hybrid-friendly corridor through escarpment villages and farmland. Caledon Hills road riding follows established club routes through Belfountain, Cheltenham, Inglewood, Alton, and Caledon East; the Caledon Hills Cycling Club publishes route cue sheets.

Albion Hills' mountain-bike network adds off-road for those carrying the right bike.

Cycling in Caledon
01 — What to know

The brief.

Caledon's cycling layers are three distinct: the Caledon Trailway as the flat town-spanning rail-trail, the road network through escarpment villages as the climby tour-cycling layer, and the Albion Hills singletrack as the dedicated MTB layer. The Trailway is hybrid-and-gravel-bike country (its crushed-stone surface is rideable on a road bike with wider tires but not narrow racing tyres), and works as both a family-friendly outing and the connector between villages.

Caledon Hills Cycling Club routes through Belfountain, Cheltenham, Inglewood, Alton, and Caledon East range from short 40-kilometre village loops to full-day 100-kilometre escarpment circuits with significant elevation. Mississauga Road north and Forks of the Credit Road carry the most photographed scenic-cycling stretches; both can be busy with motor traffic on autumn weekends.

May through October is the rideable window for road and Trailway riding.
