Walking & Strolling.

Brant's Crossing pedestrian bridge spans the Grand River at the heart of downtown Brantford, connecting Lorne Park on the south bank to the riverfront on the north — the urban anchor for a riverfront walking circuit. Glenhyrst Gardens, on a heritage estate further upstream, and Mohawk Park, by the SC Johnson Rail Trail trailhead in the east end, fill out a half-day's walking through the city's downtown, historic east end, and Grand River frontage.

Walking & Strolling in Brantford
01 — What to know

The brief.

The downtown walking is mostly flat and concentrated on the Grand River frontage between Lorne Park, Brant's Crossing, and the surrounding civic core. Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant occupies a heritage estate with public gardens above the river and is open daily; the gardens are walkable year-round.

Mohawk Park, in the east end near the Mohawk Chapel and the SC Johnson Rail Trail trailhead, is one of Brantford's oldest municipal parks. Best season for a riverfront downtown walk is May through October, but the urban pathways are accessible year-round.
