Walking & Strolling.
The City of Brampton's PathWays network strings together a citywide walking grid. The Etobicoke Creek Trail runs roughly 23 km from north Brampton through Ken Whillans Square at the downtown core to the Mississauga boundary at Goreway Drive.
Heart Lake Conservation Area carries roughly 6 km of trails around the kettle lake at the city's north edge; Claireville Conservation Area extends across the largest CA in the GTA at the Brampton/Toronto/Vaughan boundary; the 40-hectare Chinguacousy Park anchors central Brampton; Eldorado Park sits on the Credit at the Halton Hills boundary in the west.
The brief.
The Etobicoke Creek Trail is paved off-road through most of its length, with signed road crossings at the major arterials and a few short on-road connector blocks through the downtown core. Trail access points are at Sandalwood Parkway in the north, Williams Parkway, Queen Street West (Ken Whillans Square downtown), Steeles Avenue East, and the Mississauga boundary at Goreway Drive / Highway 407.
Heart Lake CA charges a TRCA day-use fee in summer (free in winter); on-leash dogs only; the perimeter trail is roughly 6 km. Claireville CA's Brampton-side trails are accessed from Indian Line and Steeles Avenue West; the Indian Line Campground entrance sits on the Toronto side and is not relevant to walking access.
Chinguacousy Park is free and parking is plentiful at the Bramalea Road and Central Park Drive lots. Eldorado Park is free city access.
Most City PathWays trails are paved and accessible by Brampton Transit / Züm BRT.
