Cycling.

Three off-road spines anchor cycling in Brampton: the Etobicoke Creek Trail (~23 km from north Brampton through downtown to the Mississauga boundary, where it continues south to Lake Ontario at Marie Curtis Park), the Esker Lake Trail along the West Humber tributary in the northeast, and the Chinguacousy Trail north–south along Chinguacousy Road. The City PathWays network ties these into a citywide on- and off-road grid, with multi-use trails through Heart Lake and Claireville at the urban edges.

Cycling in Brampton
01 — What to know

The brief.

The Etobicoke Creek Trail is paved off-road through most of its length, with signed road crossings at major arterials and short on-road connectors through downtown. Heart Lake and Claireville's multi-use trails carry crushed-stone and natural-surface alternatives at the city's north and east edges; Heart Lake's perimeter loop is roughly 6 km and rideable in either direction.

The Brampton segment of the Etobicoke Creek Trail connects directly to the Mississauga Etobicoke Creek Trail at Goreway Drive, making a Brampton-to-Lake-Ontario through-ride feasible for stronger riders (~45 km one way to Marie Curtis Park). On-road bike lanes through the downtown core and along the Hurontario / Highway 10 corridor link the off-road trails.

There are no dedicated single-track MTB facilities within Brampton — the sanctioned MTB park at Albion Hills is in Caledon, ~25 minutes north.
