Hiking.

The Bruce Trail's Beaver Valley Section runs about 113 kilometres of main trail plus around 50 kilometres of side trails between Craigleith and Blantyre, threading the Niagara Escarpment edge through the heart of The Blue Mountains. Metcalfe Rock and the Metcalf Escarpment Trail reach a summit overlook above the Kolapore Creek Valley; Scenic Caves Nature Adventures works 370 acres of cliff-edge trails, fissure caves, treetop walks, and a 126-metre suspension bridge a short drive south of the resort village.

Hiking in The Blue Mountains
01 — What to know

The brief.

The Bruce Trail crosses both public and private land — the Bruce Trail Conservancy is the volunteer steward, and the Blue Mountains and Beaver Valley club section maps are the authoritative routing source. Metcalfe Rock sits in the Kolapore Uplands managed by the Kolapore Wilderness Trails Association; the parking area can fill on weekends from late spring through fall, and the Metcalf Escarpment Trail is shared with climbers heading for the dolostone walls.

Scenic Caves operates seasonally with separate cold-season programming and admission. The Town of The Blue Mountains carries shorter heritage trails through Thornbury, Clarksburg, and Craigleith for low-key walking.

May through October is the easiest window; winter walking holds on Town heritage trails.
