Mountain Biking.
Crystal Creek's machine-built flow runs through Soonami and Da Big Kahuna at Hiawatha Highlands, where the Sault Cycling Club maintains four named singletrack systems totalling roughly 50 km. Off Canyon Climb, three Black Diamond Enduro lines — Crazy Train, Once Bitten, and Headbanger — drop into the conservation area's eastern flank.
The Farmer Lake plus Swamp Donkey loop carries the scenic Angry Goat extension at the network's far edge.
The brief.
Hiawatha Highlands is SSMRCA-managed and the Sault Cycling Club is the volunteer steward of the singletrack — bikers should expect club-built signage, not municipal wayfinding. Difficulty across the four systems ranges green-to-black: Pinder is the entry point (5 km, green to blue), Crystal Creek and Red Pine span the middle (19 km and 14 km respectively, green to black), and Farmer Lake plus Swamp Donkey skews advanced (7 km, blue to black).
Best season is late May through October once trails dry out. Fort Creek Conservation Area carries an additional in-city singletrack pocket, listed on Trailforks as user-contributed; treat the SCC page as the authoritative inventory for Hiawatha proper.
