01 — What to know

The brief.

The marquee windows are spring (May) and fall (September–October) banding seasons. PEPtBO's Spring Birding Festival and Starry Nights with Saw-whets owl-banding programme are the public-facing events; the rest of the year is observation rather than programmed access.

Only non-disruptive day-use activities are permitted in the NWA — birding, hiking, and photography — and commercial activities require a permit. The site sits within two major migratory flyways and acts as a Lake Ontario funnel for raptors and songbirds before the open-water crossing.

Combine with Monarch Point Conservation Reserve for the broader south-shore migration story.
