Picton Harbour at the head of Picton Bay is the main motor-boat and sailing harbour on the Bay of Quinte side of the County, with the Bay of Quinte and Adolphus Reach extending east as some of Lake Ontario's most active cruising sailboat waters. Glenora Marina sits at the Glenora Ferry crossing of Adolphus Reach.
The H.J. McFarland Conservation Area boat launch, managed by Quinte Conservation, adds a third Bay of Quinte access.
The brief.
The Bay of Quinte and Adolphus Reach sit sheltered behind the County itself, which is what makes them productive cruising water — the open south-shore Lake Ontario coast is wind-exposed and routinely shuts crossings down in heavy weather. The marquee season runs May through October.
Picton Harbour is the natural focus for visiting boats; the Glenora Ferry runs free year-round across Adolphus Reach on a 30-minute schedule (15-minute service Victoria Day weekend through mid-October), 6:00 a.m. to 1:15 a.m. The H.J.
McFarland boat launch is the Quinte Conservation–managed Bay of Quinte access option for trailered boats. Bay of Quinte fishery rules under FMZ 20 apply for any on-water angling.
