Sailing & Boating.
The Port of Orillia municipal marina sits inside Centennial Park on the Trent–Severn Waterway, two narrow channels north of Lock 41 (Couchiching) at the head of Lake Simcoe and downstream of Lock 42 above Washago. From this one downtown marina, sailors and motor-boaters can run open Lake Couchiching to the north, lock through into Lake Simcoe to the south, or head upstream toward the Severn River and Georgian Bay.
The brief.
The Trent–Severn Waterway navigation season runs roughly mid-May through mid-October on a Parks Canada–published schedule; lockage fees apply at Couchiching (Lock 41) and the upstream Lock 42 toward Washago, and seasonal mooring fees apply at the Port of Orillia. The Port of Orillia is a municipal marina at Centennial Park beside the downtown core, with transient mooring directly off the boardwalk.
Lake Simcoe is one of the larger inland lakes on the Trent–Severn route, exposed enough to deserve weather watching; Lake Couchiching is more sheltered but still big enough that sustained crosswinds matter. Most cruisers use the Port as the southern Trent–Severn pivot between Lake Simcoe and the Severn River run to Georgian Bay.
