Northern Bruce Peninsula.
The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula occupies the northern half of the Bruce Peninsula between Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, surrounding the village of Tobermory at the tip and stretching south through Lion's Head, Stokes Bay, Pike Bay, and Black Creek. The Peninsula section of the Bruce Trail — 160 kilometres of escarpment-edge hiking from Wiarton to Tobermory — runs the length of the municipality, with two reservable Bruce Peninsula National Park backcountry camp areas at Stormhaven and High Dump on the Georgian Bay shore.
Singing Sands at Dorcas Bay is a long, gradual Lake Huron beach with a globally rare alvar and fen on the boardwalk loop behind it. Lion's Head Provincial Nature Reserve protects the white limestone cliffs above Isthmus Bay and the most photographed escarpment view on the peninsula, with established trad and sport climbing on its cliff bands.
Cabot Head Lightstation, restored on Wingfield Basin north of Dyer's Bay, is a heritage anchor and a long-term migration banding station for the Bruce Peninsula Bird Observatory. Most of the peninsula sits inside the Niagara Escarpment UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and the Bruce Peninsula National Park Dark-Sky Preserve.
A few hours by road from Owen Sound and longer from the GTA via the Bruce Peninsula highway corridor.

Hiking
The Peninsula section of the Bruce Trail runs 160 km from Wiarton to Tobermory along the Niagara Escarpment, the most rugged stretch of Canada's oldest and longest marked footpath. The Lion's Head Loop combines the Bruce Trail and a side trail above Isthmus Bay, climbing through Lion's Head Provincial Nature Reserve to limestone cliff edges with views down the Georgian Bay shoreline. Stormhaven and High Dump anchor multi-day backpacking inside Bruce Peninsula National Park, and the easy ~2.6 km Singing Sands boardwalk at Dorcas Bay carries day hikers through globally rare alvar and fen habitat on the Lake Huron side.

The Singing Sands boardwalk at Dorcas Bay is a ~2.6 km loop on the Lake Huron side of Bruce Peninsula National Park, threading globally rare alvar and fen habitat where the eastern prairie fringed orchid blooms mid-June through mid-July. In Lion's Head village, a flat waterfront walk runs past the small heritage lighthouse on Isthmus Bay. North of Dyer's Bay, the gravel Cabot Head Road leads to the restored 1896 Cabot Head Lightstation at Wingfield Basin, with short walks on the lighthouse grounds and a museum operated seasonally by the Friends of Cabot Head.

Bruce Peninsula National Park runs two reservable backcountry camp areas on the Bruce Trail along the Georgian Bay shore: Stormhaven and High Dump, each with 9 platform sites, a maximum of 4 people per site, and no open fires. Trailheads at Cyprus Lake (Lot 2), Halfway Log Dump / Emmett Lake Road, and Crane Lake Road carry backpackers in to either area. The summer season runs May 1 through October 31; Stormhaven also operates a winter pilot from December 1 through March 31, one of the few coastal backcountry experiences open in Ontario in winter.

Cabot Head, on Wingfield Basin north of Dyer's Bay, is the long-term migration monitoring station for the Bruce Peninsula Bird Observatory — spring (April–June) and fall (August–October) banding seasons run alongside a public migration-watch program in the restored lightkeeper's residence. Singing Sands at Dorcas Bay protects fen and alvar habitat for 34 orchid species inside Bruce Peninsula National Park, including the eastern prairie fringed orchid. Lion's Head Provincial Nature Reserve adds a third Niagara Escarpment biosphere site inside the municipality.

Lion's Head's white limestone cliffs above Isthmus Bay carry trad and sport routes inside Lion's Head Provincial Nature Reserve, accessed by approach trails branching off the Lion's Head Loop. The reserve is non-operating Ontario Parks land — there are no facilities, no day-use fees, and access is by foot via the Bruce Trail. Climbing is on the same escarpment cliff bands that hold the headline Lion's Head viewpoint, with steep approaches off the Bruce Trail above Isthmus Bay.

Stokes Bay and the Lake Huron west shore offer sheltered sea-kayak paddling on the calmer side of the peninsula, including the Fishing Islands archipelago. On the Georgian Bay side, Bruce Peninsula National Park's escarpment coastline runs past cliffs up to 61 m above water, the High Dump backcountry shore, and the landing at Wingfield Basin under Cabot Head Lightstation. Both shores reward staged multi-day trips over single-day outings; Georgian Bay weather and cold-water exposure can change quickly on the cliff coast.

Singing Sands Beach at Dorcas Bay is a long, very gradual sandy and cobble beach inside Bruce Peninsula National Park on the Lake Huron side — shallow water, the rare singing-sand phenomenon, and the boardwalk fen behind it. Black Creek and Stokes Bay add quieter west-side Lake Huron beaches further south in the municipality. The Lake Huron shore stays a few degrees warmer than the Georgian Bay cliff coast through July and August.

Bruce Peninsula National Park has held a Royal Astronomical Society of Canada Dark-Sky Preserve designation since 2009, with low ambient light across the cliffside and Lake Huron-side park land. Singing Sands and Cyprus Lake are the most accessible dark-sky viewing points inside Northern Bruce Peninsula's portion of the preserve, with open lake-edge sightlines south and west. Cabot Head's Wingfield Basin lookouts add a third Georgian Bay-side option north of Dyer's Bay.

Cabot Head Lightstation — a restored 1896 lighthouse and lightkeeper's residence at Wingfield Basin north of Dyer's Bay — is a destination heritage site for the peninsula and a long-term volunteer migration-watch and banding station for the Bruce Peninsula Bird Observatory. Lion's Head's small Georgian Bay harbour adds a second lighthouse anchor on Isthmus Bay. Most of the surrounding peninsula sits within Saugeen Ojibway Nation traditional territory — the joint territory of the Chippewas of Saugeen and the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.
