Walking & Strolling.
The Kate Pace Way runs the paved waterfront ribbon along Lake Nipissing through the City of North Bay — named for Olympic alpine skier Kate Pace Lindsay — and the Memorial Drive segment of the Trans Canada Trail runs the same lakeshore corridor parallel to it. The waterfront ribbon ties Marathon Beach, the Heritage Carousel, and the Discovery North Bay Museum into a continuous flat downtown loop.
The brief.
The downtown North Bay walking corridor is mostly flat, paved, and concentrated on Lake Nipissing's eastern shoreline. The Kate Pace Way and the Memorial Drive Trans Canada Trail segment carry the through-route; Marathon Beach (the city's principal sand beach), the Heritage Carousel and Discovery North Bay Heritage Train, and the Discovery North Bay Museum (in the heritage CPR station) cluster on the waterfront and connect directly off the path.
Sunset Park anchors the northern end; the North Bay Waterfront Marina and the Heritage Carousel sit at the centre. The Kate Pace Way and Memorial Drive TCT are open year-round.
