Cycling.
The Kate Pace Way is the paved multi-use cycling spine along the Lake Nipissing waterfront through the entire City of North Bay. The Memorial Drive segment of the Trans Canada Trail runs the same lakeshore corridor; together they make the downtown waterfront the eastern anchor of paved cycling along Lake Nipissing's east shore.
The brief.
The Kate Pace Way is paved, mostly flat, and runs continuously along the city's Lake Nipissing waterfront — the easiest entry point for a flat lakeshore ride. The Memorial Drive Trans Canada Trail segment runs the same lakeshore corridor and is the long-distance cycling backbone through North Bay.
The downtown grid connects directly to the North Bay Waterfront Marina and the Heritage Carousel; the Trans Canada Trail continues east from North Bay along Highway 17 toward Mattawa and beyond, and west along Highway 17 toward Sturgeon Falls and Sudbury — the city anchors a junction in the long-distance corridor. May through October is the comfortable window.
