Sailing & Boating.

Kamaniskeg Lake's ~25 km north-south length supports cottage sailing and motor-boating from Barry's Bay (north end) to Combermere (south end). Bark Lake's larger reservoir water in the western half of the township is wider and more open at the houseboat scale, and Aylen Lake in the northwest adds a smaller motor-boating water on the Algonquin side.

01 — What to know

The brief.

Kamaniskeg has reliable summer wind for cottage sailing and is the easiest lake for day-boating from a single launch point — Barry's Bay's village waterfront is the main public access at the north end. Bark Lake is the houseboating water of the township: large enough for multi-day reservoir runs, with the OPG dam at the south end shifting water levels seasonally (check current elevation before launching).

Aylen Lake is smaller and more cottage-scale. All three are managed under standard Transport Canada small-vessel rules; Kamaniskeg can build chop on its open north-south fetch, so plan weather windows.

There is no major scheduled sailing program (no yacht club at the regional-club scale); use is cottage-and-private.
