Heritage & Culture.
The Ball's Falls historical village — the Ball family home, an operating flour mill, a lime kiln, a church, a blacksmith shop, and a carriage shed — was built up from the early 19th century by United Empire Loyalists John and George Ball along Twenty Mile Creek. In July 2024 the Town of Lincoln formally designated Ball's Falls as a heritage property; the LEED Gold Centre for Conservation on the same site runs interpretive galleries on the Niagara Escarpment, the watershed, and area history.
The brief.
The Ball's Falls historical village and the Centre for Conservation share one NPCA-managed site on Twenty Mile Creek — the village laid out along the gorge, the Centre for Conservation a few minutes' walk away with permanent and temporary galleries. The historical village runs seasonally; the Centre for Conservation operates on a posted seasonal schedule.
Vineland and Jordan trace back to a Pennsylvania-Dutch settlement of the Niagara bench in the early 19th century, with a Mennonite congregation that has been active in Vineland since that early period. Best season for full programming is May through October.
Lincoln Town Council's 2024 heritage designation is the most recent formal recognition of the village's significance.
