Camping.
Balsam Lake Provincial Park sits on the watershed-summit lake at the highest navigable point on the Trent–Severn Waterway, with frontcountry campsites on the campground peninsula. Emily Provincial Park sits on the Pigeon River south of Omemee and runs a frontcountry campground on the river.
Both are Ontario Parks operating campgrounds inside the municipality and book through the Ontario Parks reservation system.
The brief.
The two operating campgrounds are the primary frontcountry inventory inside Kawartha Lakes; Indian Point Provincial Park is non-operating and does not include camping. Operating season runs roughly mid-May through mid-October; reservations open through the Ontario Parks portal in advance of the season.
Balsam Lake offers paddling, swimming, and short hiking trails on-site; Emily pairs camping with the Pigeon River beach. Off-season day-use continues at Balsam Lake without staffed services.
